Along Came A Spider

I love critters. As I have said many times before, your yard is probably one of the best places to find things to take pictures of.  A little tour around my house and I found this beautiful Garden Orb Spider nested on the side of my house.  No I did not kill her.  She is still nested on the house.  Tomorrow I will show you what she looks like from underneath.

(UPDATE)
My good friend Sally Loner Boyd adds this comment:
This is a “Writing Spider”. We used to see them a lot, then a few years ago the Golden Orbs moved in and we didn’t see them. We had almost no large spiders last year. This year, I noticed a Writing Spider on the side of our house too. Really cool. See here for pics of both types of spiders (they are both “orb” spiders btw).

Bible thought of the day:
2 Corinthians 5:15-18 (King James Version)

15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

Old School Bi-Plane Crop Duster

This old photo of 1970 era trucks and an old bi-plane crop duster was taken by my grandfather W.W. Bryant.  My Grandfathers “signature” in his pictures was the “3D effect” he seemed to create with depth of field and color.  The trucks and plane seem to jump out of the picture.

Bible thought of the day:

Isaiah 40:31 (King James Version)

31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Getting Off The Beaten “Pass”

A couple weekends ago I packed Mom, Dad, the two dogs and my wife into the van and headed off on another day trip.  This time we visited Sabine Pass.  Okay, okay Sabine Pass is not really the garden spot of Texas but believe it or not there is plenty to photograph with a little planning (Hello Google).  Believe it or not Sabine Pass holds a pivotal place in Texas history and the Civil War.

For today we will start our little tour with the Gulf Gate Bridge aka Martin Luther King Bridge off State Highway 87, Port Arthur, Texas.

Bible thought of the day:

Psalm 29: 1-2

1 Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength.

2 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

Bible thought of the day:
Psalm 145:14-16 (King James Version)

14 The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down.

15 The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season.

16 Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.
